The One-Bouquet-a-Week Challenge
Inspired by the lovely flowers from stylist Leslie Shewring over at A Creative Mint, I've decided to issue a challenge to myself: learn how to create better arrangements by whipping up a new bouquet for myself each week.
Above is my first attempt (P.S. The hyacinth smell AMAZING amazing). I'm especially interested in learning to place flowers in unique containers...but after plowing through my cabinets, I am realizing that I have only one kind around here: old mason jars I probably got from a relative or two over the past few years.
It's a good start, but I am now going to be on the hunt for some fun vase-like supplies. But that's fine with me, because not only do I like to shop for home stuff, I also like to win a challenge. Even if it's only against myself.
(Bring it, self!)

Pretty! Freesia and hyacinth would make your home smell so sweet! A fun and rewarding challenge for yourself!!! Really nice photographs too!
Leslie--am so glad you came by! Thanks so much for your comment. Like I said, you're totally inspiring me...woo hoo!
They look great!!! The uses for a good ole southern mason jar are endless hon! I am seeing a lovely spring arrangement with hmmm I dunno, a big smiling sunflower and maybe a daisy or two peeking out of that mason jar. So sweet!
Wow! I'm so impressed! The arrangement and the flowers look beautiful. I'm getting so inspired to pick up some flowers...
Thanks for stopping by and for your words, Annie! I have seen your site through class as well.
Nice to see other NYCers in the mix. We should have a meetup after the class is over, I'm thinkin'...
I'll work on that one, lady! xo
good idea.
(tea pots and mugs are nice to put flowers in)
That's a great challenge, and one with endless possibilities. I've always wanted to be a better flower arranger, and often stick to a monochromatic, mono flower theme, but you've inspired me to step it up a bit!
Here's something new, peel the label off a peanut butter jar, no - not an empty one, and jam in some flowers. Saw this at a recent party. Too bad it's only good for about half a day. What kind of flowers would you put in?
Boy do I sound like a loon....
I'm totally going to try tea pots. Already eyeballing a white one I have...
I love your idea of creating a new bouquet a week - I think I may try this myself. All too often I have an empty vase on my dining room table calling out for something beautiful!
{your photos are wonderful}

Thanks so much, Renee! I definitely recommend trying it. It's been such a fun little project--everyone wins! It's great to have fresh flowers in my home each week...
