The NYC Wine & Food Festival’s “Art of the Taco”

Over the weekend I got to hit up "Tacos & Tequila: The Art of the Taco" at the 2010 New York City Wine & Food Festival. Basically, the idea for this event was to have some NYC's best Mexican and non-Mexican chefs concoct their own spin on the classic taco, and then feed those tacos to 300 some-odd people. The winner (at least in my eyes/stomach)? Hands down, the tacos from Toloache, a great who-knew? kind of Mexican restaurant near my office (my coworkers and I swear by its fish tacos and guacamole). Always nice to see the little guys come out on top, no? Ole, ya'll!

Rethinking Love

For various reasons, I've got love on the brain. And it's sort of bothering me, to be frank. Because I feel like I often throw around the verb "love" a little more carelessly than I should.

I know I use it in my everyday speech. I use it in my writing. I certainly use it all over this blog. (I mean, look at the bottom of the screen--there's even a category I've named "Things You'll Love.") And here's me on Twitter lately:

Guh. Do I really love birthday candle smells, Wayne Thiebaud, cute stores, Justin Timberlake in glasses? And I know it's not just me doing it; it's certainly something many of us say and write. But maybe we need to rethink "love"--to use it more purposefully, more honestly, and less recklessly.

And that's it for the week, ya'll. Yep. Oh, except one more thing: I actually probably do love Justin in glasses.

Happy Friday, folks.
