Sorry, O'Charley

With all due respect, I could care less about St. Patrick's Day. Green beer, people pretending to be Irish, crowded parades, "they're after me Lucky Charms" jokes? Yawn.

More important, my pale, pasty-white skin (probably a gift, in part, from my good ole Irish ancestors) looks terrible in almost any shade of green. And that's why I am dedicating this St. Patty's post to a current favorite (and more flattering) color combo: navy and apricot.

Enjoy. And top o' the mornin', ya'll.

Throw-pillow talk

My apartment and I are don't agree on everything. For example, I believe my apartment should be a three bedroom-three bath plus living room, dining room, and gourmet kitchen with a large outdoor space and a dog. My apartment, however, insists on remaining a small (but chic) studio with a "two-butt" kitchen (my Grannie's description) and a tiny can-fit-maybe-three-people-standing-and-no,-not-a-dog balcony.

The a-p-t and I, however, DO agree on one thing: we need some new pillows up in this joint. Here's some adorableness that we're both currently considering:

Chair pillows, $45, by studioooij (could you just DIE?)

Linen pillow with ink blot design, $98, Uniform Natural (more happy death!)(P.S. This is the front-runner)

KALAIDASPOKE Linen Cushion Cover, $50, bestillshop at etsyScholten & Baijings - Dark Pink, $256, shop.gessato.com

Oval Geo Print Pillow (cover), $30, carlossantiago at etsy

Blah Blah cushion, £55.50, Donna Wilson

Pretty, shiny things at the Brooklyn Flea

It may have been storming outside, but the lovely glossy/glassy things inside One Hanson Place at this weekend's Brooklyn Flea made it all okay.

Broken Brooklyn

If you know a New Yorker, send him or her some sunshine--STAT. We have been held hostage by big, ugly, steady rain for the past three days (the kind that's accompanied by giant gusts of wind and thunder so loud it sounds like the the sky is exploding.)

(I mean, that's pretty awesome and all, but still...uch.)

It's been sucky with a capital S--and there's more a-comin'. At least it makes for interesting photos. Can't you just imagine the anger with which some of these broken umbrellas were thrust into garbage cans and flung on the ground?

Poor, wet Brooklynites. A moment of silence, please.

(And that includes you, too, big giant thunder.)
