Sigh. Saipua.

One of the final stops we took in Red Hook over the weekend was at Saipua (147 Van Dyke Street), a flower and soap shop that offered the perfect combination of a beautiful setting, magic-hour-type lighting, interesting objects to photograph, the alluring aroma of soaps mixing with flowers, and an un-camera-shy dog named Nea. I couldn't stop taking pictures.

It was a gorgeous way to end the day. Thanks to Eric and Amy for indulging me. (P.S. The soaps are amazing!)

A soap and flower shop is such a cool combination. The aroma must be heavenly.

Great photos!

i am coming to nyc next month for a "long weekend" (that will go by in a flash) and maybe will have a quick morning to check out some spots.

Hey Michele! I think it's ambitious, but it can be done.

The Flea opens at 10am, so you could spend a few hours there, then grab the nearby B61 bus on Atlantic Avenue (at Fourth Avenue) and it will take you directly to Red Hook (just ask the driver to let you know when you get to the Van Brunt St - Dikeman St stop...should only take 15 minutes or so). Van Brunt is where most of my pics were taken, and there's several of great restaurants there where you could get lunch before shopping...

Pop me an email if you want more specifics!

Hi Amy,
What beautiful pictures, and what a unique store! Love the doggie - so cute! I also like the photo of that "succulent" type plant.
