Have you got baggage?
I've been doing some extra traveling lately to attend to some family matters--and while I'm managing to hang in there, my luggage is not.
Twice in the past week, the zipper on my suitcase has refused to open, which is not only frustrating when you're trying to pack up quickly, but is also quite rude, especially considering all the things my luggage and I have experienced together. I thought we were in it for the long haul; my bag, however, has let me know that our run is over.
So I'm starting to look for a replacement. And given the unnecessary extra drama my old bag created in my time of need, I am thinking I need an upgrade. Here are a few pieces I'm considering. But tell me: do you have recommendations? Hook a sister up!

Amy - go with Tumi. It's expensive and no pink but it is well designed and has a warranty. I got two pieces when I moved to Europe and they are doing well.
I just got a samsonite that has the wheels that spin in any direction. so key!
seriously - samsonite - not as pretty - BUT - so good. light, easy to spot, strong, the big one is big but not too big. i have been everywhere, and had fancy luggage & pretty luggage (always too heavy) , but this is the best. (4 wheels - the only way to go)

Thanks, everyone! These are all SO helpful...
Whatever type of luggage you go with--get BLACK! Not as cute, but there is nothing more depressing than investing in something stylish and then having to watch it emerge on the conveyor belt looking like it spent the flight taking a mud bath (speaking from personal experience...my once snazzy purple wheelie is looking past its due date these days!)
the word that escaped me before Amy was swivel. wheels that swivel!
Globetrotter! Apparently it's the preferred luggage choice of the Queen of England. I have a vintage navy globetrotter, and it weighs practically nothing, but is strong enough that you can stand on it. Cool.
I also adore the Roxy Costa Rica range. It's hard to track down, but seeing its glorious blue, turquoise and cream floral deliciousness spinning towards me on the luggage carousel is totally worth it.
Perhaps its too late, but if you have some extra $, I think the samsonite black label has both beautiful pieces and a reliable brand. They had other vintage pieces a few years ago, but I can't seem to find them anymore.
